On October 21st, Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall will present her tenth Annual Address to the Legal Community at the Bench-Bar Symposium sponsored by the Massachusetts Bar Association. This year’s speech will focus on the deepening state budget crisis and its implications for the judicial system, lawyers, and the public.
In addition, the Massachusetts Bar Association will present Chief Justice Marshall with the prestigious Chief Justice Edward F. Hennessey Award for outstanding leadership and contributions to the improvement of the administration of justice. Former Governor Paul Cellucci (who, ten years ago, appointed Chief Justice Marshall as the first woman Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court) and Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Christine Durham, the president of the national Conference of Chief Justices, are guest speakers. MBA President Valerie A. Yarashus also will provide remarks and present the award to Chief Justice Marshall.
The event starts at 4:30 p.m at the John Adams Courthouse – Great Hall One Pemberton Square Boston.
