New Mandatory Control Calendar Calls in Rhode Island Superior Court, Providence County

I just received this note from the RI Bar Association:

To address the civil cases pending trial in Providence County, the Superior Court will convene Mandatory master Control Calendar Calls.  The First calendar call will take place on October 26, 2009, in Courtroom 10, at 9:30 a.m., before Justice Dominic C. Cresto. All counsel of record will recieve notice of the Control Calendar Calls by mail.
The following rules apply with regard to these Control Calendar Calls:
  • Designated trial counsel must appear unless they have a previously filed and approved court excuse
  • If the case is resolved, counsel must appear with a stipulation or judgment, fully executed by all counsel of record, or a copy of a properly executed stipulation or judgment previously filed.

Counsel must be prepared to address:

  • Settlement
  • Status of arbitration/mediation
  • Status of discovery
  • Pending motions/pre-rial motions
  • Narrowing issues for trial
  • Witness lists for trial (out of state witnesses?)
  • Number of expected trial days
  • Trial schedule
