On the heels of the retirement of Superior Court Presiding Justice Joseph Rodgers, the Judicial Nominating Commission will be looking for a new PJ to fill his rather large shoes. The Providence Journal reports:
After a two-month break, the Judicial Nominating Commission will be back this week to begin selecting possible candidates to be the next presiding justice of Superior Court.
The nine-member commission Tuesday will chose who it will interview to succeed Presiding Justice Joseph F. Rodgers Jr. following his retirement Aug. 28. The deadline to apply is Friday.
Also, look for the JNC to begin the application process to fill the Supreme Court seat vacated when Chief Justice Paul Suttell became Chief. In addition, there are five other judicial openings for which Gov. Carcieri still has not made his nomination: a District Court seat, the chief judge of District Court, a Superior Court seat and two on the Family Court.
