On Thursday, March 19, 2009, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., on the 6th floor of the Garrahy Judicial Complex, at One Dorrance Plaza in Providence, Roger Williams University School of Law’s Pro Bono Collaborative, the Rhode Island Bar Association and Rhode Island Legal Services are co-sponsoring a Pro Bono Open House.
Honoring those who support public service, the event highlights the increasing needs and openings for attorney public service participation. In addition to serving wine and light hors d’oeuvres, the three sponsoring organizations are showcasing public service opportunities including the Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyer Program, the Law School’s Pro Bono Collaborative and the Legal Services’ Tax Clinic.
Featuring an introduction by Rhode Island Bar Association President-Elect Victoria M. Almeida, and remarks by Rhode Island Supreme Court Acting Chief Justice Maureen McKenna Goldberg, the event is an early start for a series of ongoing, public service-oriented events, culminating in the American Bar Association (ABA) designated Pro Bono Week on October 25-31, 2009.
The event is free, and all Rhode Island attorneys are cordially invited and encouraged to attend.
