Rep. Carol Shea-Porter and More

Former RI Association for Justice president and renowned trial attorney Jeff Padwa (who I previously profiled here after the Obama campaign) is hosting a reception for New Hampshire Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter this Friday.  Here are the details via an email from Jeff.

I had the privilege of meeting Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter from New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District during the Presidential Campaign and was touched by her authenticity.  “She is exactly the kind of person I want representing me in Congress,” I told my friend Rob Barber after meeting Congresswoman Shea-Porter for the first time.  She is a remarkable person who overcame long odds to beat an incumbent Republican in 2006 and won re-election in 2008.

I know that you will be impressed with Carol and her amazing personal story.  In 2006, she won a contested Democratic primary by beating the chosen candidate.  National Dems wrote her off, but she won NH’s 1st Congressional Seat with a powerful grassroots campaign and beat an incumbent Republican.  Many consider her win to have been the most surprising upset of the 2006 election season.

Please come to our home and meet Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter

  1. A small correction, Matt. State law allows (though many candidates do not accept) cash in small amount.
And I surmise that you don’t include in-kind contributions intentionally.

  2. A small correction, Matt. State law permits (though many candidates do not accept) cash contributions of $25 or less.
And I surmise that you have not mentioned credit card contributions on purpose.
